Delete your account and your data
How to have your account and personal information erased.
You can ask us to delete your FitFoodz account and the personal information we hold about you. This page explains how, what gets deleted, and what we have to keep.
How to ask
Email [email protected] from the address on your account, with "Delete my account" in the subject line. Or send us a WhatsApp on 072 522 7099.
Tell us the email address or phone number you order with, so that we can find you. We may ask one or two questions to confirm it is really your account, because handing someone else's data to the wrong person would be a far worse failure than a slow delete.
You do not need the app installed and you do not need to be signed in to ask.
We complete deletion requests within 30 days, as the Protection of Personal Information Act requires, and we confirm by email when it is done.
What gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in details
- Your name, email address, phone number and delivery addresses
- Your saved payment methods, which are held by our payment provider and not by us
- Your health and fitness information: weight, body measurements, body fat estimates, food logs, activity, progress photographs and macro targets
- Your meal preferences, saved meals and plan selections
- Your marketing preferences and contact history
Progress photographs are deleted from private storage, not just unlinked.
What we have to keep, and why
South African law requires us to keep some records even after you ask us to delete your account. We are not allowed to delete these, and we are not choosing to keep them:
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Invoices, orders and payment records | Tax Administration Act and the VAT Act | 5 years from the end of the tax year |
| Records of a dispute or a legal claim | Until the matter is finally resolved | As long as it takes |
| A minimal suppression record: a one way hashed version of your email address or phone number | So that we do not accidentally market to you again after you have asked us not to | Kept |
Those order records are kept in a restricted archive. They are not used for marketing, they are not used to build advertising audiences, and nobody browses them.
If you only want to stop the marketing
You do not have to delete everything to stop hearing from us. See Marketing preferences, where you can opt out of email, WhatsApp, app notifications and advertising separately.
